Photogrammetry Workshops

DH_Age offer photogrammetry workshops to community groups and professional bodies. The workshops provide hands-on training that teaches participants how to use photography to create 3D models of objects and spaces. These workshops are designed to empower community groups with the skills and tools to document and preserve their cultural heritage in a digital format.

Details of workshops will appear below when available. Please note that workshop are limited in number and are offered to participants in the hosting counties initially, with additional places open neighbouring counties.

In the workshops you will learn how to turn photographs into 3D models, which can help reveal hidden details on carved objects. Photogrammetry is a creative way to reveal hidden carvings without having to use chemicals to remove natural growth from stones. This helps to record and preserve the heritage of sites and create a lasting record for future generations to enjoy.

The process is easy to learn and workshops will be supported with video tutorials and assistance to groups in processing and accessing software freely into the future

What will you learn?

  • How to identify heritage and archaeology in your local area.

  • How to record heritage using accessible digital heritage methods.

  • Develop an understanding of the basic of digital photography for photogrammetry

  • Learn to use various software options for Photogrammetry.

  • Undertake a photogrammetry survey from planning to completion.

What do you need?

  • Software:-   Participants in all workshops will have access software for the duration of the workshops, with free tier software available for home use.

  • Camera:-     Participants will require access to a digital camera, while phone cameras can be used people should ensure they have the correct cables for transferring images from the phone to a computer. Suitable cameras include modern smartphone cameras, digital point and click cameras, or Digital SLR cameras

  • Computer:- Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop computer to training, but this is not a strict requirement as a demonstration laptop will be available for use. Video demonstrations will assist with installing software on PCs for home use.
